Strawberry Moon over Philadelphia
The start of the summer of 2016 featured a full moon - an occurrence referred to as the "Strawberry Moon". I took advantage of this to head back to one of my favorite places to photograph the Philadelphia skyline: the Spring Garden Street Bridge. The bridge spans the Schuylkill River, I76, and the Northeast Corridor train tracks leading into 30th Street Station. It also gets extra points for being directly accessible from the Schuylkill River Trail. This meant I could put my tripod and camera in my backpack and bike over, avoiding dealing with traffic and parking.
The weather, as is typical for Philly in the summer, was muggy and damp. The moon clawed it's way over a bank of clouds and picked up a great orange glow for a few minutes as traffic and trains streamed by below me. Behind me, the sky was glowing a brilliant shade of purple behind the landmark houses of Boathouse Row.
