Grand Spring Ledge
I spent much of the fall of 2011 exploring Yellowstone National Park. I was in my sophomore year at Montana State University and the park was just 45 minutes down the road. This was heaven for me.
This particular weekend I explored the western edge of the park, driving in through West Yellowstone and turning south towards Old Faithful. I'd visited Grand Prismatic Spring before but only from the boardwalk level and I could tell the view would be stellar from a higher vantage point. I'd scouted out this trail on Google Maps but was unsure what I would find in person, particularly as far as blocking foliage was concerned. After scrambling around for about 45 minutes I found this spot which had the best view through some dead trees down the Midway Geyser Basin and Grand Prismatic Spring.
